The route out, not the distance
This is the Cincinnati-specific one. A yard that drops away behind the house, steps instead of a path, a retaining wall between the street and the animal — everything has to be carried, and on a hillside lot the carry is often the job. Two identical raccoons twenty feet apart can price differently for this reason alone.
Size
A rodent is minutes. A raccoon or an opossum is a straightforward visit. A deer needs a vehicle that can get reasonably close and often a second pair of hands, which is why it is worth saying up front.
How long it has been there
Fresh lifts in one piece. Several warm days in and that stops being true — the ground or the material underneath has soaked, and that comes out too. It is the single factor that most often makes a job bigger than the caller expected.
How much leaves with it
Sometimes the animal alone. Sometimes insulation, bedding or soil as well. That is a volume question, and volume is what the disposal end is built on.
Where the address sits
Inside the built-up area is routine. The far edges of the five-county block involve travel, and occasionally an approach a vehicle cannot make at all.
What is not a cost variable here
Opening a finished wall. It is not priced because it is not offered. No finished wall, plaster or ceiling gets cut open to reach a small carcass, so there is no version of this quote that includes making a hole and no repair trade to add on afterwards. The species. People expect it to matter more than it does. Size matters; exactly what the animal turns out to be usually does not, and you are not expected to know before you call.
Urgency. There is no premium tier here, because there is no promised arrival window to price against.
